The design for my version of the Uncle Sam poster was inspired on March 3rd when Tennesse's “Anti-Drag” law was signed into effect. I realized that this is an important part of the larger attack on LGBTQ representation and LGBT rights. On March 3rd, 2023 the ACLU was tracking 403 anti-LGBTQ bills in the United States. While not all these bills will become law, they all cause harm to LGBTQ people. 

For this design, I hoped to convey that Uncle Sam himself was getting into drag for the first time in solidarity with the LGBTQ community. His scowl becomes a smile in the representation of queer pride.
